La mia cartolina d’autunno per il 2023 è ispirata alla figura di Persefone, che secondo il mito venne rapita da Ade e portata negli Inferi, mentre la madre Demetra la cercava nel mondo di sopra.
Proprio perché aveva mangiato dei semi di melograno offerti da Ade, Persefone fu costretta a vivere con lui per sei mesi l’anno, tempo in cui la terra riposa e (all’apparenza) non dà frutti.
Questo archetipo femminile parla del passaggio da ragazza a donna matura. La discesa nell’Ade è associata al disagio psichico e, se conoscete la scrittrice Sylvia Plath e la sua opera sapete quanto l’oscurità e la sensibilità creativa siano legate tra loro.

My autumn postcard for 2023 is inspired by the figure of Persephone, who was kidnapped by Hades and taken to the Underworld, while her mother Demeter was searching for her on the hearth.
Precisely because she had eaten pomegranate seeds offered by Hades, Persephone was forced to live with him for six months of the year, a time in which the earth rests and (apparently) does not bear fruit.
This female archetype speaks about the transition from girl to woman. The descent to the underworld is connected to psychological distress - have you ever read Sylvia Plath’s poems? Her work shows us how darkness and creative sensitivity are linked to each other.
